I received an advanced reading copy, but hadn&#8217;t had time to sit down and crack it until now. It&#8217;s my current front-porch-with-lemonade read. (Fic-SciFi)<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Victims<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0by Jonathan Kellerman. I am a Kellerman junkie, and have almost finished mowing through his entire body of work for the second time, but\u00a0<strong><em>Victims<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0is fresh and new, and I&#8217;m looking forward to starting it soon. (Fic-thriller)<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>11\/22\/63<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0by Stephen King. Saving it for the cottage! So, I suppose it doesn&#8217;t go in the &#8220;what I&#8217;m reading&#8221; column so much as the &#8220;what I intend to read&#8221; column, but I&#8217;m not making a page for that because it would be ridiculously long. (Fic-horror)<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Death to Dust<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0by Kenneth V. Iserson. Again. For the tenth time (conservative estimate.) An absolute must for any writer planning on putting a death in their book. \u00a0(NFic-medical)<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>On Killing<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0by Lt. Col. Dave Grossman. (NFic-military\/psychology)<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>What I&#8217;m Writing<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>First draft of\u00a0<em><strong>Death Rejoices<\/strong>,\u00a0<\/em>book two of<em>\u00a0The Marnie Baranuik Files,<\/em>\u00a0is in the hands of my trusty beta reader; the feedback so far has been encouraging. Still some tidying to do before it goes to my snarkypants editor, Mr. Rafe Brox (and I only say &#8220;Mr.&#8221; because he looks like he could calmly twist my skullcap off with one hand and use it to mash my brains to a grey meat slurry.)<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Horror shorts<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0for the untitled anthology with my collaborator, Jason D. Ready, (I believe the D stands for &#8220;Demonic Ginger&#8221;) are nearly done. Okay, that&#8217;s a big fat lie, they&#8217;re not even close to being done, but let&#8217;s pretend. His stories are done and they&#8217;re great. *digs toe in sand*<\/p>\n<p>Research has commenced for\u00a0<strong><em>Last Impressions<\/em><\/strong>, book three in\u00a0<em>The Marnie Barankuik Files<\/em>. I&#8217;m pestering my very patient detective for Canadian cop info. Let&#8217;s call him Constable Name Withheld, since I keep forgetting to ask him if it&#8217;s okay if I say who he is, and Constable Name Withheld is a lot more professional-sounding than the other stuff I could call him.<\/p>\n<p>Research and outlining has also commenced for my other collaboration with Jason D. Ready, an untitled\u00a0<strong><em>steampunk series<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0that is still in the outlining phase. This dark-yet-humourous series will include everything that is horribly, horribly wrong in both our heads. So much win.<\/p>\n<p>Outlining and general idea-hucking has begun with my other collaborator (the above-mentioned snarkypants editor boy) Rafe Brox, on our\u00a0<em><strong>weirdo, noir-punk-scifi<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>book<\/strong><\/em>, also untitled. Hrm, usually I&#8217;m better with giving something a title right off the bat.
